Camp

Bye Bye!

This is going to be one of my last blogs. This is going to be one of my last blogs because I’m going to sleep away camp then to Michigan. I have to get a lot done this week, such as packing and getting clothes for camp. My camp is called Hayo-Went-A. My camp takes place near Traverse City. As you can guess I’m pretty happy about not writing anymore. I won’t write until the end of July. I know writing fun and all (I didn’t write this statement without laughing.) but I’m going to go to camp.

I’m packing in a duffel bag that can fit me in it. I don’t know how I’m supposed to carry this without throwing out my back! At camp we will be zip lining. For people who don’t know what that is it is a cable from tree to tree that you are attached to and you basically fly. We are also going to do polar bear swim which is when n you wake up early and you swim in really cold water. We are also going to hike up and camp on the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes. I hope I will see you all before I leave for camp.

I will miss my parents, my room, and my cats. I won’t miss my sisters and their crying and complaining. I will write to my family three times in letters. They will email me back. After camp we will be going to Michigan as a vacation.

The Shocker

The Shocker

My name is Paul. I do not know my last name. My parents never told me. I was just called by my first name. I was the best student in my class. My favorite subject that I study is weather. I wanted to be a meteorologist when I grew up. Also I was easily bullied. I was not strong I was skinny. The leader of the bullies was this guy named Jimmy Pain. I don't think his last name is actually Pain but when I asked he just shoved me into the closest locker. He also calls me names like bookworm. After I was done eating lunch Jimmy shoved me into another locker again. I definitely had a ghastly life right?
It was a rainy day again. It had been raining six days straight. Today I only got shoved into a locker once today (That’s a first.) After school I walked home. I practically had to wade through the water and maneuver around the huge puddles. It was still storming. Once I got to my house I was trying to get my keys out of my pocket quickly to get out of the rain, but I was too slow. Two lightning bolts hit me on both sides. I fainted.
I woke up and I noticed somebody had put me into my in my bed. At school I couldn't remember anything from last night. I just had two burnt sides. After lunch Jimmy tried to shove me into a locker again but I dodged him. After that he got really mad and said "Paul do you want to fight me?"  I didn’t have time to answer, he charged at me. I really didn’t want to fight him but I did it anyway. I couldn’t help myself I closed my eyes and clenched my fists…  When I opened my eyes Jimmy was on the ground holding his chest like something hit it. People were crowding around us people and were looking at me with huge eyes. I asked what happened they said nothing. At my house I clenched my fists again and lightning bolts shot out of them. I couldn’t believe my eyes!
I had this idea I would exercise and save the cities I was near. I ran to the store got the supplies for the costume I was going to make myself. I thought it should have lightning bolts down the middle and back and blue on the sides of them. I sewed my costume. Here is what people shouted out when I was flying to a scene of a crime.
Oh no it’s rain!  Oh no it’s lightning!  No it’s the Shocker!

Black Out

Black Out

On Friday I woke up and thought this day couldn’t go wrong. My first girl cousin was just born. Her name is Liliana. First I rode my bike to basketball camp. Today was the competition day. I won all three competitions. They were knockout, free throws, and hot shot. After camp I was supposed ride my bike to the pool with a good friend of mind. We stayed at the pool for three hours. I rode my bike home just in the nick of time.

The wind was blowing 70 miles per hour, I’m not kidding. Every tree was swaying. My mom had to go get my sisters from their friend’s house. Once they got back it started thunder storming. There was a loud BANG! Suddenly the power went out. My sisters and I bolted down the stairs towards the basement. We stayed in the basement for 30 minutes.

For the next three days our family had no power. There were so many huge trees down that they blocked off many streets. We had nothing to do for the three days so we went to the movies twice. We saw Karate Kid and Toy Story. Finally at midnight on Monday the power came back on. It woke everybody up, however we were still glad to get our power back.

book review

Brand New Me!
Book Review

I’m doing a book review on the book Brand New Me. This book is by Henry Winkler. This author starred in Happy Days. I’m going to rate this book out of five. I would give it a 4 it out of five. I would give this book a four because it had really good parts and also okay parts. This story is like a roller coaster because the writing is getting better and then dropping. At the end of the book the writing kept getting better and better because it was getting to the climax. This book is one of the last Hank Zipzer books. This is the seventeenth book in the series. Hank has learning problems. He is about to graduate from his elementary school PS87. Hank soon finds out that his best friends, Frankie Townsend and Ashley Wong, are going to a smart kid’s school. For the first time in their life they will be going to different schools. Hank finds out that he has a special talent to improvise in stories. He can go to a school called Professional Performing Arts School because of his special talent. But will he make it through his audition? Read the book to find out. I loved this book. I hope there are more books in the series because these were so good.

Cat hooray

New Cat

About three weeks ago we adopted a cat that was just born. He was 10 weeks old. My two sisters named him Tiger. I wanted to name him Jerry because our other cat was named Kramer. We got him on a Tuesday. Everybody loved him. Everybody except our other cat Kramer. Kramer couldn’t stop hissing at Tiger. I think Kramer hisses at Tiger because he was used to being the only cat. So every night we had to lock Tiger up in the bathroom because we wouldn’t go to sleep if the cats were hissing at each other.

Now Tiger runs around like crazy. He darts around the room so fast that you can hardly see him. This cat is very lovable. Even people who don’t like cats will fall in love with this one. If you don’t believe me, my neighbor who hates cats said this was the cutest one he ever had seen. Yesterday night we took him out of his room for the first time for the night. However he kept jumping on my sister’s bed at 11:00 pm so he got locked up again. Today we’re going to try to leave him out but close my sister’s door. I didn’t want to get a cat because we already had Kramer and he is really loud. Tiger can’t stop meowing. In conclusion Tiger is a great cat to have.

Hard Head

Hard Head

Monday was my baseball team’s first elimination playoff game. There were a lot of great things that happened, but I also got the second worst injury I had in my life. This story is about the game and what happened to me.

My team was up 5-1 after the first inning. I lined out in my turn at bat. In the third inning I walked, but it scored a run. This game was beginning to get close. During my at bat the coach had me bunt with runners on second and third. I made a great bunt just between the catcher and pitcher. The pitcher got the ball looked back at the runner on third and threw it too third. He was safe and he went home. He scored. The second base runner went to third and I went to second. For my next at bat I crushed a double, this scored a run. The next pitch was a wild pitch. I stole third base. The catcher threw to third wildly. I slid the ball took off my helmet, and hit me in the head. I was in so much pain.

The coaches for both teams were crowding around me. I had two ice packs next to me. Another kid was coming in to pinch run for me. That was the end of that inning. At the beginning of the inning I came out to pitch and close the game. I struck out one and made two pop out that was the end of that game. After the game I was sent to the ER. The doctors said I was fine but it could have been much worse. Now when both eyes are open it looks like one eye is squinting.

Tonight I have another elimination baseball game.  I won't be able to play because of my injury. But I will be there to support my team.

1 on 1

1 on 1 with Dominique

Illinois basketball camp was this weekend. This takes place on The University of Illinois’ campus. The players were your coaches for this camp. There were a plentiful amount of phenomenal games and drills but I liked one activity the best. The best game was one on one with the Illinois basketball players. Read on to learn about my experience with Dominique Keller. Who is a power forward for the Illini.

As we split up into age groups, the coaches assigned the students to players. An Illini player was then assigned to each group. The ten and eleven year-olds were assigned to Dominique Keller. Dominique was a senior last year, but this summer he came back to be with the kids. When it was my turn I dribbled right past him and shot for a layup. He rejected me from behind! Next time I was up he was trying to get in my head. When I was about to shoot the ball Dominique said, “I’ll let you shoot that. I know you can’t make it.” I shot from the elbow the basketball went in…And then out. He was right but I got the rebound and shot again. I missed. Then Dominique got the ball and dunked right over me! I was up for the third time. He was playing off me because he thought I couldn’t shoot. When he passed me the ball I shot and it was a perfect swish. This was all the time we had. The fifteen minute bell went off and the game was over. I thought to myself, “I’m so lucky to be here right now. I’m so lucky to play with real basketball players.” If I go to this camp next year I’m going to try to make all my shots against the players.
