The Best Activities at Camp
As you probably all have heard, I went to a sleep away camp. This camp was called Hayo-Went -Ha. There were many outdoor activities such as zip lining and shooting rifles. Today I’m going to tell you about both.
The zip line took place on the climbing tower. There was one zip line that you jumped off and then you rode down and went back up. As you lost speed you went up and down more often. On my first turn I held on to the rope. That resulted in a rope burn. On my second turn I let go and it was so fun. Every time someone went down the tower shook. The zip line was not scary. I think that was the best experience of my time there.
In addition to the zip line campers could also shoot rifles. I shot at targets three different days. The targets were about 30 feet away. The first time I shot poorly I only hit the target once and the second time was for instruction period. I shot great. I hit six out of ten. The third time I only missed two shots! The rifle was about a foot and a half long. We also loaded the rifles ourselves. These were the two best activities at camp.

Hi, Lucas. I think I would be too scared to do the zip line. I'm not good with heights. But, I have a lot of fun shooting rifles at targets also. Maybe all that practice will make you beat me at nerf-guns next time, but I doubt it. ;-)

Hi Lucas,
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a super time at camp. How could you not with zip-lining and target shooting. Your blog reminds me of the Boy Scout camp where I shot a rifle for the first and only time. It was great fun trying to hit the targets and after some practice I shot pretty well. We had an assortment of targets from the typical bulls eye to model tanks and airplanes. The first time I shot the rifle I did not have it tight against my shoulder and the kick back caused some temporary pain and a big bruise. Thanks again for blogging. Your writing is bringing back many wonderful memories.
